I was given thyroxine when diagnosed a long time ago. I was allergic and given Eltroxin. This was 'discontinued ' and I was put back on thyroxine. Now I have multiple problems. An all-over body itch, arthritis, back problems, stomach issues. Was seen by a dermatologist who took blood tests and sent me for a chest X-ray (all to do with body itch). Don't have the results yet, but I am wondering if this all could be connected to my thyroid. Is Eltroxin still available and if so, why is my GP not offering it to me to see if it makes a difference? Can anyone advise?

Thyroxine v Eltroxin
Babalfo, The Eltroxin that you had was indeed discontinued. UK brands have changed many times over the years. You can get the list of current thyroid meds from Thyroid UK website here thyroiduk.org/tuk/treatment...
Lots of people find that brands affect them differently. What works for one does not work for another. Trial and error is the only way to find out. Once you find one that works for you, ensure you stick with it by informing the supplying pharmacy that you must only have this brand.
I had a similar situation but as my blood tests proved my levels were fluctuating wildly my GP made a note on my records and on my prescriptions that I must be supplied with Mercury Pharma brand ....the problems went away . I believe the MP brand is the closest to Eltroxine.
Good luck
