What are my options?

Good morning!

I’m starting a new post off the back of my other one yesterday.

My latest results show that I’m now over medicated. I have slowly been increasing my levo since the beginning of last year, looking for a point where my symptoms would stop.

However, I’m a bit gutted that despite my T4 now being well over range and my T3 being at the top of its range, I’ve never managed to feel well.

So now I don’t know what to do. I had hoped my T3 would be low so maybe I could go onto a T4/T3 combo but I’m not sure this will help given the results.

Do I try something different? What are my options? I read about T3 only, NDT, Metavive etc, etc, etc.... so many options. I am totally up for trying anything now, I’ve had enough! What have others done that couldn’t “feel” well on levo?

I’m reluctant to go GF. I have been hypo for around 15 years, treated with levo and had no issues until sept 17.

I’d appreciate everyone’s thoughts on what I do next 🤔

Have you read up on the effects of gluten on wellness ? I have read your earlier posts and can see it has been suggested - but you seem resistant for some reason. Check out Dr Tom O'Bryan and others who can explain the damage that is invisible :-) Gluten molecules can pass from the gut and cause inflammation in the brain - yikes - that made me give up gluten !! Dr Datis Kharrazian is your man :-)

Gee, I know gf is an option but seriously, if you lived in my house you’d understand why I’m resistant.

I already prepare different meals most night because if everyone’s movements and prepare meals often for my mum too, so it’s higly likely to increase my stress levels in itself!

I may continue to ”repair” my potentially leaky gut first, but I’d also like to try other options first as I just don’t see gf as an easy option for me.

If someone's health, or their age in either direction, necessitates special dietary arrangements, that's perfectly understandable; but not just because others in the household want to come and go and still have freshly prepared meals readily available. Especially when the person making it all happen has their own unresolved health conditions such that they post in forum to the effect that they've "never managed to feel well". It might be considered perverse perhaps, to continue to allow that to happen? But in any case, no one will know that you are preparing gluten-free meals for everyone if you don't tell them. If it's been going on for some time, perhaps the message is that you need to do something differently to get a different outcome. Just a different perspective for you ........

Indeed. Accepted, but mostly it’s the movements of my kids who are too young to prep their own meals that dictates mela plans and times. Hubby would accept anything, he’s on my side but I’d really rather explore other options first.

I am a Grandmother to 5 in three different families ! With the Coeliac family - they all eat the same food that I prepare - not all are coeliacs - not a problem. It just means cooking from scratch. It could be a good thing for your whole family as it can take years for sensitivities to reveal themselves. Not being a nag - just trying to help :-)

Cooking isn’t my strong point, nor do I enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong - I do cook fairly standard stuff and I use fresh ingredients, I’m not a microwave food/frozen meal person at all.

I just want to know all my other options before I go gluten free. It’s sll a bit “current trend” for my liking

Totally understand ... it isn't for everyone :-)

I think that too Murphysmum. So much about our gut is linked to stress of modern life. I suspect modern baked goods are poor because of the awful Chorley Wood process which involves heaps of yeast and other chemicals to make a "loaf" in record time.

Human's the world over have been eating gluten for thousands of years. If you are celiac then obviously you need to stop. But the rest? I'm not convinced either. I did go GF for over a year at one point to see if it helped bloating. It didn't. And what I thought were food sensitivities were really advancing perimenopuase and hormonal upset. I won't do it again.
