Doctors!

Been to GP today, as blood tests show TSH is up to 37. Was 0.35 in 2017 when last checked. Was actually told that it's the T4 that the body needs and that's why they only check that and the tsh. As body converts t3 to t4!! I had to check twice but he was adamant! And these are the people we trust with our health!

Oh goodness, did he at least acknowledge your TSH is very high and needs treatment? Your FT4 must have been very low as well. You have to remove that trust.

If you weren't on Levothyroxine before, presumably you have been started on 50mcg dose now

If you were already on Levothyroxine, you need 25mcg dose increase

Bloods retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies as well

Upped from 150 to 175. Ferritin normal. But they won't test anything else! Say it's unnecessary! Oh and check bloods again in 3 months!

Ferritin normal.

What is your ferritin and the reference range? Many doctors will say that a result of 13 with a reference range of 13 - 150 is "normal". I doubt many people will feel their best with a result which is very low in range.

Detention for that one and back to school. How can they be so ignorant? Might be worth sending a nice simple diagram and explanation to him anonymously by post
