Iron results

Hi again, could you help me again as I have an appointment on Tuesday at the doctors to see what’s going on as they yet again didn’t do my T3 or t4, that was why I had to do a private one, the only ones the lab did was tsh and iron which I’d like to ask about.

Iron. 18. umol/L. 5. - 28

Transferrin 2.36. g/L. 2.00. - 4.00

% Sat of transferrin 31. % 22. - 55

and this ferritin one was Medichecks

Ferritin 100. ug/L. 13. - 150

Do I have issues with this as I have been taking one solar 25mg per day for last 3 months. Thank you once again.

Did you leave your iron tablets off for a week before the test, and did you do the iron panel after an 8 hour fast?

These are optimal results for an iron panel

Iron. 18. umol/L. 5. - 28 - should be 55-70% of range (higher end for men) and yours is 56%.

Transferrin 2.36. g/L. 2.00. - 4.00 - low indicates no need to supplement, high indicates the need to supplement. Yours is low in range.

% Sat of transferrin 31. % 22. - 55 - optimal is 35% to 45% (higher end for men). Yours is 31%.

Ferritin 100. ug/L. 13. - 150 - recommended is half way through range with a minimum of 70 for thyroid hormone to work. I've also seen it said that 100-130 is recommended for females. Your level is probably about right.

Hi, yes I hadn’t taken any the week prior to testing, so there’s no need for concern on this test then. Thank you for replying.
