It hasn't done anything for my Hashimoto's. I take it lower cortisol, which it definitely does. If your cortisol's low, don't use.
I am a master herbalist. Ashwaganda affects the immune response balance, but in a way that could make Hashi's worse. I definitely would not recommend it.
Thanks DrNance, thats good to know. I've had a big question mark over this for a while and as I'm struggling with lots of anxiety at the moment I went ahead and I took some for the first time today. I think I won't go on with it now. I don't want to risk provoking any more antibodies. I'm wonder if its best not to supplement with anything and risk further problems? Thanks again
I take Ashwagandha in the evening before I go to bed as I was having trouble sleeping, since I have I sleep better and feel less stressed or aggressive as people tell me , I also take licorice and milk thistle along with my B12, vitamin D, garlic tablets and selenium.
Before I was taking these I felt so lethargic and always stressy! The doctor was and is supportive, but the Endocrinologist is not worth the money he’s paid, Ive had more results researching myself and trying what’s best for my body! I still think and feel that in my case it was an Adrenal failure that bought on my Hypothyroidism! But who’s to say I’m right, I just listen to my body and change things if it doesn’t seem to make me feel good!
I’m a lot better now than when I first was diagnosed, and the only thing the levothyroxine has done is helped pile on more weight and given me foggy memory!
But they say you mustn’t stop taking it so I feel trapped in a way!
Thanks Gladiator_1 for your reply, its good to know someone is having success with Ashwagandha . I started it today and got my fingers crossed. I'm glad its helped with your sleep and you're feeling less stressed. I'm not sure it will help with the hypothyroidism but I'm hoping it will calm me down like you as this 'wired up' anxious feeling inside is really unbearable so I think I'm going to stick with it. I think it's an adrenal problem for me too from chronic stress. I know how it feels to be so lethargic but stressed out, not a good combination! I think if one hormonal system gets out of whack it can trigger an imbalance somewhere else because it's all related.
Im glad you have a good doctor. I think listening to our bodies is the best thing and is just as important as test results. I wish the doctors would listen to us though and what we are feeling in our bodies and not just look at the numbers on the screen!
Sorry the levo is making some things worse. Is there any chance you can see another endo about maybe trying something else?
Take care Gladiator and keep listening !
