Can anyone recommend a good Aswagandha supplement? Also a digestive enzyme that you've used? Cheers.

Hi, Viridian digestive aid is lovely. Swedish Bitters (strong) good to get things moving

Ashwaganda can't help with- as a student herbalist I use a practitioner supplier which you don't have access to. 🤗

I was told not to use Ashwaganda until sorted out digestion better and built myself up - not weight wise I hasten to add - somewhat sadly. 🙃

Pick the tops of nettles this time of year. Use fresh or dry. Make tea/soup. Very nutritive and free.

You could look at Neal's Yard for a tincture containing Ashwaganda, and I like Biokult for digestion.

It's the simplest and easiest obtainable god send to me ,

I swear by my aloe Vera tablets they have cured my IBS, acid reflux , and digestive problems ,you can also buy it in a juice form if you prefer but tablets as easier for me and very cheap to buy .

I have been trying Thornes digestive enzyme. It also contains betaine. It seems to be working well to reduce my reflux, but is very expensive, costs around £50 per month, and that's just 1 tablet per meal but you can have 2. I'd like to find something cheaper to do the same.

Hydro-enzyme is very good quality, suggested by my nutritionist and costs much less than what you are paying. I buy 250 tabs at once and take 2 or 3 with each meal. I think they're about £25 a bottle.

Without a doubt virdian digestive enzyme, less fillers and rubbish. I used most of their range. Try the mineral complex too to help thyroid.

They come in 30 tablets up and not too expensive if you shop around.

As to Ashwagandha it might help some things but it also has its negatives so research before use or ask a herbalist.

I was contemplating adding this to help with adrenal fatigue, I've read this can really help.

Maybe ask an Ayurvedic doctor?

"Life Extension" for digestive enzymes, in fact for most supplements - they do lots of research and publish interesting articles in their magazine. Also have won awards for their supplements. Am I allowed to give a link?lifeextension.com/Welcome

I use Detox Trading Ltd or Ayurvedic Botanicals (Gopal). Powder is much more useful and economical than capsules.

Regarding ashwagandha, I started taking these, just one a day and there are absolutely no nasties in them amazon.co.uk/Ashwagandha-Ce...

I also started taking holy basil morning and night. I don't feel quite so stressed I have to say although I very occasionally have a blip in the evening and feel the need for a benzo.

The digestive enzymes were suggested by a functional medicine practitioner, again one of the better ones and got lots of good reviews, but I found after taking them for a few evenings I actually began to feel sick in the evenings and bloated so stopped. The reason I bought them was because within the many ingredients they contained phytase. I was particularly interested in this because it breaks down phytic acid found in nuts which binds calcium and as I have advanced osteoporosis and primary hyperparathyroidism, I cannot take calcium supplements or risk any "binding". However, there was some confusion about them being gluten free and they used the excuse it was fermented. There were a couple of others who also said it made them feel nauseous and gave them the trots. As someone said above, you have to be so careful with fillers amazon.co.uk/Digestive-Enzy...

Someone mentioned probiotics, I have been taking Optibac Extra strength one a day for the last couple of years or so, they are supposed to be a very good company and they always respond to any questions from their lab.

I bought some Pukka wholistic Ashwagandha (organic) but I notice it contains Iodine (30% Seagreens: Artic fresh seaweed) but I am now not sure if this is good or bad for my under active thyroid.

My functional medicine consultant suggested Integrative Therapeutics HPA Adapt witch has a blend or herbs including Ashwagandha and seems to be working very well for me.
