Posting this to see if anyone has had similar symptoms to what I have. I was diagnosed with viral thyroiditis in 2016. It took over 7 months to come out of it and back to normal thyroid levels. Since coming out of it, I have lost over 7 kgs of weight and simply cannot seem to put back the weight. I eat normally, been to several specialists, gastroenterologist, endocrinologist and done several tests. But they are all clear. TSH levels are normal- 2.5-3. So just checking if anyone has had similar experience of not able to gain weight back after viral thyroiditis.
Thanks.

Actually your TSH levels are not 'normal'. They are in-range, but that doesn't make them right. A TSH of over 2 means that your thyroid is struggling, and 3 means you're hypo. Truly 'normal' would be around 1.
Many thanks for the response. The endocrinologist did say the same thing that you have and I am taking levothyroxine daily, a small dose. But if I am hypo thyroid then I should be putting on weight, but in the case that is not happening. So just wondering if anybody on this forum has had similar health problems after an episode of viral thyroiditis.
There's no 'should' about it. A lot of hypos put on weight, but not all of them. Some of them lose weight, and others stay the same. We're all different and symptoms vary from person to person.
