Looking at the ingredients, Huel seems ok with hypo. Anyone have any extra info on that?

Acacia Gum, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, sunflower seed oil, sucralose…

Not very healthy ingredients for anyone. I wouldn't take it.

It's more because I don't have time for lunch at work and am going to be going back soon. Hypo/energy wise, I thought huel might be the solution.

YUK. You might be better treating it as intermittent fasting. I don't eat lunch at work in the weeks when there is no break (but it's only a few days a month). If you are not doing low carb, why not just eat a Nakd or Aldi Paleo bar? Would take less time than going to the loo, but they are high in carbs.

At the moment, I'm watching what I eat but until energy levels stabilise, I'm not going to start dieting to lose weight. Doing a lot of exercise to increase energy and metabolism instead. I'm too new to hypo.

Doing a lot of exercise when you are hypo and not optimally medicated will reduce your T3 (thus reducing metabolism) and make you feel worse. Hypo people don't work like normal people. No one is suggesting dieting (ie reducing daily calories)

I disagree. I can only go by own experience but if I don't exercise, I find it very tough going.

Just a quick aside note, I just popped to Aldi (was going anyway) and the paleo bars contain soya - just to be aware.

I don't think anybody seriously watching what they ate would eat that. But it depends what you're looking for…

No wonder we get sticky eyes with all that acacia powder, by any other name i.e; Guar gum, Xanthan Gum, Gum Arabic. Are there any other names for this insidious substance?

Probably, I don't know. :(

I do agree that there are a lot of undesirable ingredients in Huel. But I’m a firm believer that it’s all relative and sometimes it’s simply not so straightforward to eat as well as we might like.

My partner used Huel for breakfast for the best part of a year as it was a better option than breakfast cereals which weren’t good for his blood sugar (he’s type 1 diabetic) and just as convenient. He found it levelled out his blood sugar, kept him fuller for longer and helped his regularity with bowl movements.

He’s found something more preferable now (natural yogurt and homemade granola) but it was a good stepping stone for him.

I find the Dorset cereals very good. A very low sugar muesli (as none added).

I’ll make a mental note of that one for when we run short. Thanks for the tip! We tend to find that shop bought just not as tasty but there always comes a time when we totally run out and don’t have the time!!
