Calcium / Magnesium Parathyroid removed years ago did anyone else add in magnesium themselves?

Hi all,

So I still being have some symptoms my tsh is around 3.1 with 30 T3 and slowly increasing this. But the question today is I had my parathyroid glands removed as well as thyroid so at the time I was put on calcium 1000mg and Vitamin D3.

I have recently found out that magnesium is like the "sister" mineral to calcium and a lot of websites / sources say it is a good idea to take magnesium along with calcium.

I have never used magnesium in my life and looking at the symptoms of low magnesium I can relate to a lot of them with the muscle twitching in the eye, muscle will get really constricted and painful. And my sleep disturbances is highly annoying and just adds to everything else.

I have been looking at the product amazon.co.uk/Natural-Vitali... as a potential starting out on some magnesium. Does anyone else here had their parathyroid glands removed and take magnesium along with calcium? and what type they take etc... My diet is not great there is no way i eat enough magnesium.

You are on an insufficient dose as the aim is a TSH of 1 or lower. That's what is causing your symptoms.

Ask for an increase in T3 but many endocrinologists and doctors seem to believe that if the TSH is 'in range' that we're on a sufficient dose. We aren't unless TSH is 1 or lower. I doubt they are aware that the TSH is from the pituitary gland and not the thyroid gland.

The aim is a TSH of 1 with a Free T3 in the upper part of the ranges - not middle or lower. Due to you taking T3 alone, your T4 will be low or very low as your body isn't producing, neither are you taking any.

There are a number of different magnesiums so you will have to read what is best for your symptoms.
