Hi there, wondered if anyone has the same problems, I had a total thyroid removal last year and had my very first sinus infection just now, which was awful, with green mucus coming from my nose for two weeks, having to take time of work , I’m now feeling breathless when lying down, but totally feeling much better apart from this problem. My energy is great, but just this little issue, should I be worried, otherwise I really do feel fine xx thanks for you response xx

Hi. I haven't had the Thyroid surgery but history of sinusitis.
If you've had this infection for two weeks would your GP give you an Antibiotic?
Try keeping head raised a little in bed using five pillows till this has cleared up.
Thank you both for your response, my GP is reluctant to give antibiotics at this time, I have no cough thank goodness ,I think I need to wait it out, and drink plenty of fluids definitely a sinus infection.
Antibiotics would help. I often have to go to doctors twice to get them and remind them that I do have an Autoimmune Disease.
Yes, drinking plenty of fluids a must.
You could also try some steam inhalations - bowl hot water with one or 2 drops of Olbas oil, protect eyes, towel over head & bowl. Instead of Olbas Oil you can use Friars Balsam - this is what they used in the hospital after my facial surgery for my maxillary sinuses.
I would ask another GP or go back to same one for Antibiotics. A virus would have cleared after a couple of days definitely before 2 weeks. Green mucus for two weeks is far too long in my opinion.
I also have had a TT. I had that nasty cold/cough with the green stuff coming out my nose and one eye...yuk! It started the last week of Sept and only recently did I stop coughing.
Did you have a cough? If so, you may want to check with your GP about bronchitis.
Try grapefruit seed extract. It got rid of a sinus problem for me. Amazing stuff.
I had sinus infections for over 62 years with two operations which only worked for a few years at a time. You could get antibiotics from your Doctor. I prefer no antibiotics myself.
I had my thyroid removed two years ago and started to get terrible sinus infections one after the other. Then I have started to take Vitamin C everyday for 4 months now and it's the first time ever, that I haven't had an infection especially during the winter months.
This sounds like sinus infection not a virus it's bacterial and not a cold either.
Hi! Probably bit late now, but if you're still suffering ~ I haven't had TT but constant sinus infections I buy (used to be prescribed) Sterimar from chemist. Purified isotonic sea water for nasal irrigation ~ really helps me ~ in combination, of course with VitC etc. good luck and HNY! Mamapea x
