Hi. I've got the list of private drs from Thyroid UK.
Would people recommend seeing an endocrinologist or one of the Drs in Harley Street? I have my blood test results already
Any suggestions gratefully received. I know we can't discuss Drs but which type to visit? Obviously quite expensive so wanted to make sure I get the right one to help. Or should I just go back to my GP?

I think you have to take into account that this is a life long condition and you may need a lot of appointments. I think status probably doesn’t make much difference, you just need a good one! Good luck
It depends why you want to see a specialist. I see from your recent post, that you were advised by SeasideSusie that you were under-medicated, and also had some areas of deficiency in your blood tests. If it were me, I'd addresses those issues, and in 6 weeks or so, have another set of tests and see how you feel. You may not need to see an expensive specialist then, and it's the cheaper option, because as sure as eggs is eggs, if your private specialist orders those tests for you, they'll cost more and you won't be any further forward £ per £. If you do decide to see one, you need someone expert in the areas about which you wish to consult them; so if someone's interest is diabetes, or anything else, they may not be up to speed on thyroid dysfunction for instance. Or worse, as someone reported today, they may think medicating with T3 doesn't do anything because it lasts only an hour, and that NDT contains any & every old rubbish but certainly nothing of benefit to someone who is hypothyroid .......
Meanwhile have you started supplementing to address the deficits identified in your recent results; and also mentioned in your first post? Have you adopted a gluten/dairy free diet to help mitigate the effects of having an autoimmune condition? Addressing the thyroid dysfunction with meds, without resolving the other issues, is only half the story with Hashimoto's.
Personally I think this is a self help illness. I wasted a few years hoping my persistance with gp would pay off and he would get on board and catch up (bangs head on desk) we have access to to all the info, medication, supplements etc that Dr's do but we are more motivated as it's our health. Wish I had known that years ago.
I saw Dr P. 2015 and that was the beginning of my getting better. My gp referred me to endo (first 2 waste of time and extremely distressing one said I needed HRT not thyroid meds, I have no thyroid !! )
A friend recommended a private endo who I saw 2016 he put me on T3 only and I have been the best (not 100%) since thyroid removed. I told him at appt I couldn't afford private appts and he put me on his NHS list.
My gp does all tests I want on nhs and I ask for help when needed. We are all different, keep a journal, a record of what works, moods, symptoms, food, meds, supplements etc.
For me it has been a long slog but I'm getting there. I wanted someone/dr to show me the way, to help me, turns out I was better informed than my Dr.
You posted a previous blood test result and received answers. Your GP should up your medication your TSH is still to high also your Vitamin D level is low too
Before I had my thyroid removed I visited Harley Street also two other Endos. These were all a complete waste of money. I had only become well again by joining and taking the good advice on this site.
