High calcium, albumin and iron

Hi all,

I had the attached bloods done in September. Will be back to the doctors next week - can anyone interpret anything from my results? Are there any questions I should be asking the GP? Already diagnosed with hashimotos and taking levothyroxine.

Thanks!

You need parathyroid testing at the same time as calcium, if both high then hyperparathyroidism is a possibility and you would need an Endo referral for further tests.

I agree with bantam12, ask for referral to endocrinologist knowledgeable in parathyroid glands and do your research first. I believe that parathyroid hormone cannot be tested in primary care in the UK so you will need a referral. Do not delay.

however the corrected calcium is within the range so a PTH won't usually be indicated.

how long was the tourniquet on your arm for? If for an extended time this could explain your raised albumin and calcium... The way to check that would be a blood collected without the tourniquet.

Both of these are only slightly over range why worry, they can fluctuate throughout the day.
