Pregnant with Hashimotos

Hi everyone!

I haven’t been here for a while, mainly because I’ve been doing great since moving onto NDT.

My thyroid results are best they ever been and with supplements my D, B12, folate, iron, zinc are mid to upper ranges.

I’m here to share some great news- I fell pregnant! Over the moon with happiness!

Are there any other members also pregnant and keen to share knowledge and experiences? I know very little of managing Hashis in pregnancy so every advise helps!

Also I know my dose will need adjusting, could anyone advise how dosing works in pregnancy?

I had to keep going for blood tests and every few months my meds were raised until eventually I was on 250 of Levo!

Hi Tinx!

Thanks for getting back to me! Can I ask how often were you having blood tests?

Thanks you! 💖

Oh my, I'm so sorry but it was 15 years ago ! I can't barely recall what I have for breakfast in the mornings these days even :( but saying that I would imagine that your doctor will tell you what you need. I reckon it would have been at least 4 times as I do recall being on about 100 (mcg?) and ending up on 220! (mcg?) I´m currently searching through the internet about info on when´s best to take my iron tabs as I´ve forgotten again and just came across this piece......

"Pregnancy Concerns

You should also see your doctor right away if you become pregnant, as the dose of your medication will likely need to be increased. If you are planning to have a child, have a plan in place with your doctor to increase your dosage as soon as your pregnancy is confirmed.

After delivery, it is safe to take your thyroid medication if you are breastfeeding, as only minimal amounts reach the baby through milk."

Hope that helps a bit.

Take care,

T
