Melasma on side of face

Hi All,

Happy New Year to everyone!

Just wanted to ask if anyone has had this happen to them... I have Hashimoto and taking 125 mg of Levothyroxin, since last May. In the last week I noticed a light brown patch the size of 5p coin appearing on the side of my face. I will be going to the doctor to check it out but was reading about melasma and hypothyroidism and wondered if anyone has experienced similar skin changes.

I sometimes get it on my upper lip

It’s caused by hormonal imbalance so any hormone therapy could cause this.

I usually get it when I use progesterone cream
