Hi all i keeo getting nausea..( and a headache this morning but thats not a regular thing ). Is this a common thing with thyroid and hashi?? Or could wit be the levo?

Im now on two different levo makes..i got them just before xmas ..

1st ones i went on was actavis..50mcg

And others are wockhardt ... 25mcg

Which ones are the better make

I know i shouldn't mix.. pharmacy said it should make any difference ..

What do u advise..

Dave

Actavis ingredients:

Anhydrous Levothyroxine Sodium, Lactose, Magnesium Stearate, Maize Starch, Stearic Acid, Pre-gelatinised Maize Starch

Wockhardt ingredients:

Levothyroxine Sodium, Lactose, Sucrose (Fine Powder), Maize Starch, Magnesium Stearate

So a slight difference in fillers.

Why not trial just one make. If you are taking 75mcg daily you can either take 3 x Wockhardt or you can cut some of your Actavis in half and take 1 and 1/2 Actavis. See if that makes a difference. If it does, you'll have your answer and can tell the pharmacy that it does make a difference despite what they say.

Check the Patient Information Leaflets and see if nausea is listed as a known side effect.

Asalways susie thank you so much for your quick reply and superb advise..i didnt think of doing that ......has either got a bad rep ?? Which one is generally known to be better..?? Wockhardt seems to have less fillers?

Neither has got a bad rep, and neither is known to be better. Only Teva is regularly reported as causing severe symptoms. But it doesn't mean that occasionally there will be a member who doesn't get on with one of the other brands.

I have been taking Actavis for many, many years with no problem, but there might be someone who reacts to it.

Brilliant i think from yr advise and chatting to my partner. Actavis was the 1st one i went.on and i seem to do ok so i will go onto that only and see what happens...the actavis 50, might be hard to cut...if so i will take 3 of the smaller wockhardt.... Theres nothing mentioned on nausea on either . Cheers susie

I manage to cut my Actavis 50mcg with a pill cutter. I am currently taking 112.5mcg daily and was cutting my 50mcg into quarters and that was a bit too fiddly, but cutting in half wasn't a problem. Even if it isn't totally accurate, taking the other half the next day will even it up. I only cut one pill at a time and put the half I don't use into a small screw top jar then use that the next time. Or you could alternate 100/50 if you prefer.

Hi susie hope your well.. just an update.. i did what you suggested.i took 1 half of.activis this morning and.i def uavnt felt so sick.and ive uad a better day for general energy and feelings so you definitely might have a good point..... Only other thimg i have a bit of a worry is..

. Constant odd feeling/uncomfortable in the thyroid area and tiny pain coming and going and i do seem to have an eritated right ear area.. i am under ent for ear problems where my ears block up so need to be cleaned.out every few months..(they are clear at present as was cleaned 2months ago or should be ) this cough i have is on off and very niggly .ive had it for a few years . Ive always thought it was reflux due to gp diagnosis but i dout that now after what ive learnt ... But i worry it could be more sinister of the thyroid..sorry to bore you..
