As per the title, does anyone know whether a prescription is needed for T3 in Cyprus, or can it just be bought over-the-counter in pharmacies there? Same questions for Northern Cyprus? Thanks, Nick.

T3 availability in Cyprus?
bristolboy
From information previously posted on the forum, Unipharma (Greek) T3 became prescription only in Greece and the islands last year which resulted in the shortage of availability and supplier problems. A few members appear to have managed to buy the odd box over the counter at the occasional pharmacy but it's not as easily available as it once was.
I understand that in Northern Cyprus it's Tiromel and I think that can be purchased OTC (but not 100% certain).
Thanks Susie. I thought that was the case, but I've got a friend who's going to Cyprus for Christmas, so I thought I'd better check the current situation. Nick.
It's worth your friend trying a few pharmacies, he may be lucky, but just ask for 1 or 2 boxes. Do you have an empty box he can take with him to ensure the pharmacy knows exactly what he wants. When I used to visit Cyprus I found that they speak very good English so there probably wont be a problem.
But don't forget that it's not legal to bring any medication back to the UK unless it's for yourself or family. If he does manage to find any, get him to post it to you from Cyprus.
I managed to get 4 packets while I was in Crete in May, which I haven't dared take yet. I'll give him an empty packet to take with him. Thanks for the tip about posting!!
I also bought 6 months supply of Uni Pharma last summer in Athens without prescription. It's still a over the counter medication there and nothing changed. Several pharmacists there confirmed that to me when I asked. So I realized that either somebody is spreading false news on the internet or maybe in some small villages pharmacists don't have it but instead of telling you so, they rather invent stories. So if prescription is not needed in Greece, if Uni Pharma is available on Cyprus (I don't know, I never been there) it's probably over the counter there too.
