When my thyroid levels are too high or too low I get the thumb ridges. Grows out when levels are good. Kind of a good marker, LoL

I have vertical lines on my nails all of the time and have done for for at least a year or two before I was diagnosed.. is this really a good indicator or your levels being right?

Hi Ggplusthree I have exactly the same. If I’ve been unwell (whether thyroid or something else) I get vertical ridges on my nails. Before I was diagnosed my nails had been like that for months and it didn’t occur to me it could be a sign of illness
