My bloodtest came back like thisT4 6.4

T3 4.1

So my T3 is good but to get my T4 in good levels my T3 would skyrocket to the moon which makes me feels so bad.

Im on Thyriod -s but i need to know the differences in levels cause now when i should get new meds i want to know if the other brands will be better?

Thanks in advance

I think those details are in my World Desiccated Thyroid document.

helvella's medicines documents (Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - World Desiccated Thyroid

Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products including information about several products not considered to be Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT/Desiccated Thyroid Extract/DTE).

Do you really need your FT4 any higher? Honestly? Does it being that low affect the way you feel? Not everybody need a high FT4 when their FT3 is good.

But if you do need it higher, why not just add in some levo? A lot of people do. :)

Hello Olsson :

Armour is the leading Stateside brand with a declared value of 9 mcg T3 + 38 mcg T4 in each grain :

Efra is the Canadian brand of NDT - said to contain the least fillers and contains 8 mcg T3 + 35 mch T4 in each grain :

Thyroid S is from Thailand and with a declared content of 9 mcg T3 +38 mcg T4 in each grain.

All the above are prescription only medically graded thyroid hormone replacement options.

NDT presents differently in blood test to that of synthetic T3 and T4 blood tests.

You track on the T3 and the T4 can be much lower in the range than when on synthetics and this does not matter if you feel ok :

What are the ranges you are using and did you do a fasting blood test after around 10-12 hours from your last dose of NDT ?

My T3 and T4 results on NDT have switched places compared to when on T4 monotherapy and now my T3 is around 90/110 % with my T4 running at around 25/30 % through the ranges - with the TSH suppressed - and I'm much improved.

Thanks. Yeah. Im crazy tired now and also alot shorter temper. But i did not fast before tsking the test. I took the test about 12 hours after my meds. But as told i dont feel so good now. I feel better when on my t4 i higher but when t3 i too high i dont feel good at all. I get alittle crazy if my t3 i high...

I cant be the only one with tests like this. So how do i adjust. With levo i feel so sick sadly

Thyroid S has bad batches sometimes or maybe it doesn't suit you. People can feel different on different brands of the same medication, no matter is it NDT, T3 or levothyroxine.

olsson87,

To raise FT4 levels you could try adding some Levo to your NDT.

Medicating Levo together with a T3 containing med is completely different to taking Levo on its own, as the T3 makes your body utilise it properly.

I was intolerant of Levo on its own but now medicate 1 grain NDT & 50mcg Levo which has kept me well.

Well it reads as though you are now taking too much NDT :

Did you start at 1/4 grain and slowly build up your dose weekly/fortnightly by 1/4 grain increments ?

What are the T3 and T4 ranges ?

My results can come in with T3 @ 110% with my T4 at 25% through the ranges - it does not matter - what matters is that you fee better than before you started :

Not what you're looking for?
