What's a 'misandrist'? Who do you think you've upset? And what was the lie? A very obscure post! :)

well 138 kg then told 144kg 2 days later should have rang some bells to them or someone your talking nearly a stone even when i was 20 could not have eaten that much or is it not important to get the correct weight when you go to docs then dietian going dollaly but none of them could see the mistake

Weight gain can be a problem for many who take levothyroxine. However, even though the photos are of females, (the majority of people with hypo are female) if you've gained weight it can be due to you not converting T4 into suffiicient T3.

No I disagree mine is. I have nothing against the Chinese but my new doctor is one which appears to suit this ancient Chinese healing etc. When my partner went this week for his 70's plus check up, He was greeted with ( WHAT YOU WANT, WHAT YOU WANT, WHY, WHY ) all in a Chinese accent of course. We are still laughing about it today.

refering to peeps who tried to destroy my character last week

greygoose in reply to pauluk60

Well, none of my business, but don't you think that's rather jumping to conclusions? We all get treated like that in regard to our hypo weight. It's because the medical profession is anti hypos, not because they don't like men. They just don't understand how the thyroid works.

no your a million miles from my referral those who wrote about me would maybe note my post nothing about weight watcher peeps

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply to pauluk60

OK, well I obviously just don't understand what you're saying. My bad. :) Even so, advising you to go to weight watchers doesn't mean they're man haters.

That isn't a nice word to use and I am not surprised you are upset. Strangers and people who care about you should be sensitive about people's unexplained weight gain. It is one of the many, many symptoms and is it not surprising that the least knowledgeable about this is doctors/endocrinologist and make it out that it is what we are eating and not sufficient T3 being converted from levo.

My weight can vary due to oedema, and if I'm up late preparing for an out-of-area appointment I get less sleep and so less overnight loss of oedema. When I cycled a lot when I was younger, I could lose half a stone in a day, but didn't feel dehydrated. I guess the water was sucked out of my colon contents.

Please don't worry about it the scales are probably wrong. Just keep trying, I feel just the same when I roll out my exercise mat everyday, sometimes I just stand and stare at it.

One of the most infuriating things doctors can say is, why don't you go on a diet? Or, try eating less (said with a smile). Or, you should go to the gym...

All this when the patient is by then in despair at gaining and gaining and despite more or less starving, finding it impossible to lose weight. It's maddening but they simply don't know enough about thyroid disease to offer good practical help and advice xx

i can loose weight quite easily its just that theres a lot of it trick of the game is keeping it off mite have better chance now oap oh dear did i say that thats made me feel ancient but if they are telling you to loose weight have the scales right

Oh I agree, maintaining weight loss is much harder than losing weight itself but for hypothyroid patients losing can be very difficult. I myself lost 8 1/2 stones over two years on levothyroxine but my elder son passed away last December 7th and this has turned my life upside down. At first I lost more weight, but soon afterwards the number on the scales began to creep upwards. I regained a stone and have managed to lose 6lb of that regain but I can't seem to lose another ounce. I was so close to goal weight, I had a healthy BMI last December. But I'm so much better than I was before diagnosis and treatment.

Good for you if you lose quickly! Well done. I won't give up! I'll lose this regain somehow ha ha xx
