It depends whether you have a diagnosis of a thyroid condition and on any medication.

As TSH ranges are fairly similar, you are likely to be about half way through range, which means that you're not hyperthyroid nor are you optimally medicated if you have hypothyroidism and prescribed Levo.

Your T3 - is that Total T4 or Free T4?

And we need the range.

If it's Free T4 then it's likely to be below range for some labs, or very low in range for other labs.

Thanks I wasn't given the ranges to compare the test was done at the hospital and the consultants secratary briefly read them to me. I have not been diagnosed with thyroid problems but have symptoms.

Can see from previous posts you get B12 injections and supplement folate

Both are often low when hypothyroid

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results . (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

Thank you I shall read the information. So is it not possible to gain any information from what I was told.

Not really

Usually FT4 ranges are around 10-22, but different labs vary a lot. So your result looks low.

Ring tomorrow and request the ranges

But you need all the other tests too

I have briefly looked at other peoples posts and noticed there maybe a connection with thyroid and prolactin. I have a micro prolactinoma dx in2005, its untreated because I cannot take the meds to reduce it. I recently saw my consultant who tested the tsh and t4, she said that my prolactin has been increasing the last few years, do you think there is a connection.

Not what you're looking for?
