Hi All , I have more blood results to collect today . Slow Dragon showed the list of exactly what needs testing because important things hadn't been done in my initial test .
Before I show my new results I have a couple of concerns. I showed my GP the report of Dr Tofts about TSH range ( mine being 1.7 ) and she said but you are within range I can't increase the dose. I gave the list of what I wanted testing and she said the Lab will not do T3 because you are within range . The TG ...she said she didn't even know what that meant so it hasn't been tested .
I received a phone call yesterday to say results are fine other than Vitd low . I have been supplementing vitd for a year now . She also said the Lab refused to test TPO because I was within range .
My question before I show results is .....should I get the T3 , TPO and TG done privately so I have the bigger picture for advice to be given on here .
I was given a pack of 25mcg levothyroxine and for a week now have taken one every other day alongside my prescribed daily dose of 75 mcg. Today I have more energy and a clearer head than I have had in a long time . I am just hoping that I can now show all results and be pointed in the right direction regarding supplements and a good supplier . I do take b12 and magnesium but am aware of the K2 I need. I just want to show all results and get the best advise . Thankyou so much for all replies on my last posts . It's so reassuring to have people that understand . I welcome any replies .

There's absolutely no point getting a private test until you have been on constant unchanging dose of Levothyroxine for 6-8 weeks
As you have recently increased your dose you will have to wait to run test
Do you have enough Levothyroxine to continue at higher dose without GP increasing prescription ?
If you drop dose back just to 75mcg per day, you would still need to wait to retest, a bit longer on reducing dose - 8-10 weeks
Just testing TSH and FT4 is completely inadequate. But most GP's can't or won't test more
So private testing is next step, and it's cheapest to test all vitamins and thyroid together
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, B12, folate and ferritin.
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money
All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH and lowest FT4. (Patient to patient tip, not to be mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Why don't you put the results you have on here now then if you have anymore tests add them in another time?
That's what I would do.
Your Vitamin D result is very important so please give that now. If it is very low then the GP should have prescribed Loading dose of Colecalciferol (D3) followed by a daily maintenance dose which would probably be 800IU but can be up to 1000 or 2000IU (depending on the individual patient). The Loading dose is much higher and is taken for 4 or 6 weeks.
Strange, that your Vitamin D is very low, if you are already supplementing ??
