I visited my GP just over two weeks ago and reported that I had lost 19 pounds in weight in 8 days. I had to go back on Monday to see him and was able to report since that loss, a 22 pound gain. This has been going on for about 8 months.I weigh at the same time every week on the same pair of scales naked. the scales are fine and this was happening on two lots of previous scales. Gp agrees that this has to be fliud rather than fat and said bless him 'What you really need in an ideal world is a good endo but I don't think a refferal will help you very much. they will just try to stop your hormones'.
I did take too much nature thyroid just about prior to the loss this time but it has been happening anyway.Apologies I don't have blood results but know I have high inflammation and viscosity and that my T4 is low, TSh suppressed and T3 just above midrage when last taken.I have made a small increase of quarter of a grain of nature thyroid but also take 12.5 T3 and 300mg thyrogold.
Has anybody else experinced these kind of fluctuations or heard of anything like it. I have asked my GP not to investigate further for now. I had some very traumatic experinces as a child re medical stuff and doctors and find medical procedures very stressful and having them might be driving some of my ill health.
I experience this sort of thing, but rarely when it would be most useful, i.e. during summer, when I don't wear very much!
I wish I knew how to control these huge fluid fluctuations, but it seems to be only partly related to thyroid status. I do notice a seasonal change, and I'm usually at my slimmest during autumn, and in late winter/early spring. Heat with humidity makes the swelling much worse, but so does prolonged cold weather. I'm assuming there's a functional heart problem with all this, so I take a diuretic to have any hope of controlling the worst of the fluid build-up. I have to source it myself, of course. 🙄
Yes, it does help, but it doesn't get rid of all the fluid by any means. Herbal remedies didn't work for me, but a low carb diet helps keep the fluid down. The seasons still seem to be the biggest influence. Of course, if I were still on levo, the problem would be even worse.
I had to research the types of diuretic available, and I'm very careful to replace the lost potassium and magnesium every day.
