Gap between theory and practice - pharmacy

Picked up my script for Vit D3 3,200 units yesterday and took it to the local pharmacy. Asked the pharmacist whether I should be taking Vit K2 and magnesium with this (as recommended on a thread here) and got this blank look - had no clue what I was talking about.

No surprise there then. Like doctors, they are unlikely to have any training in nutrition.

Yes well I am about to see a bone specialist regarding my osteoporosis and I am dying to hear what he has to say about vit K, magnesium, vit D combinations/co factors. I wonder if he will push dubious chemical antidotes and support the pharma companies? I am not based in the UK and have private insurance so will be all ears!

I have a Magnesium spray which I have been using. The last two days I got a mild burning sensation after using it. Does that ring any warning bells?

If that was me I'd leave it off for a few days, let things settle down, then try again. If the burning sensation continues then find an alternative.

That’s helpful Grincho / looked it up and it talks about tingling. Hmm this burning sensation must mean I am very low on magnesium.

A student tipped me off to mix the magnesium with body lotion before applying so that you don't get the itching/stinging/burning sensation. It works for me.

Ooh. Good tip. Especially as am body lotioning at the same time anyway. Also trying half in the morning half at night

I have just been reading an article about taking K2 it is most important it not only helps to direct your calcium to your bones instead of directing it to your soft tissues when taking Vitamin D3. Apparently it also helps with lowering inflammation.
