Has anybody got this? I’m due for a CT scan next week and surgeon consultant after. What investigations have you had done and what have they told you were the cause? Have you had it removed? Mine is apparently pressing on my wind pipe. Apparently it’s bad luck for me. I’ve had a ultra sound and biopsy which were all clear. Thanks.

Multi Nodular Goitre
You need full Thyroid and vitamin testing as recommended in previous post as well
I have had the following medichecks. Do you recommend another test please?
Thyroid Check UltraVit25 Jul 2018
Dear Melissa,
Please see my comments below regarding your Thyroid Check Ultravit test.
I have reviewed your past medical history
Thank you for the information provided regarding your lifestyle history.
I can see you are requesting this test to investigate symptoms
I am pleased to report that all your results for your thyroid profile are within the normal ranges. Your thyroid hormones are normal as are your thyroid antibodies revealing no evidence of autoimmune thyroid disease.
You have normal vitamin B12 levels.
You have low serum folate. I recommend checking your red cell folate to assess whether this is significant. Following this I recommend increasing your intake of folate rich foods such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, asparagus, peas, chickpeas and brown rice. You may also want to consider an over the counter folate supplement.
Your vitamin D level is normal.
Your CRP level is normal, suggesting low levels of inflammation within the body.
Your ferritin level is normal indicating healthy iron stores.
Best Wishes,
Dr Hamed Kamali
Can you add the actual results on all these. Perhaps add a photo of results on a new post
We frequently find the results may be within range, but can be far from optimal
Medichecks doctor comments are only the same as your GP.......i.e. Not specific for someone with a thyroid problem .

Eg this post from this evening
I had a huge multinodular goitre that I had surgery for in December 2016. Both sides of my thyroid gland were greatly enlarged but the left side was massive (we named it Humphrey)
It had pushed my trachea and oesophagus over to the right by about 1.5”, meaning I couldn’t breathe well or eat solid food because it was so squished in there.
The surgeon decided that removing my whole thyroid could compromise my breathing further because my trachea had been stretched so much and then would have no stability as returned to normal position, apparently floppy tubes aren’t good!
Scheduling the surgery took a long time (months) because I have very severe asthma and the thyroid surgeon wanted asthma specialists in theatre too, just in case there were issues.
So they removed the left, larger half, of my thyroid gland. It was huge, approx 500g, the anaesthetist came to find me afterwards to tell me it was the largest thyroid he had seen. The surgery was quick and easy, no dramas and I was allowed home the next day. My scar has healed really well and is hardly noticeable.
By removing the left half of my thyroid I have become hypothyroid but I was expecting that, the thyroxine is also stopping the right side from growing any further.
This is the situation I was in about 17 years ago. I feel for you. I had a Hemi-thyroidectomy as a result. If the surgery is necessary I can reassure you that the relief from that feeling of suffocation afterwards was immense.
I had a large goitre, I had it removed by choice, I'm pleased I did as the consultant said it was very big..
My thyroid nodule completely moved my trachea suddenly when out walking because of it I could not breathe but they still did nothing to help me in the UK. As soon as I moved to France a couple of months later my thyroid was removed and my trachea repaired. The nodule was growing downwards it was 4cm and contained 1/5th Papilary Cancer. Back in the UK only 8 months prior I had a FNA done and no cancer was found.
