Hashimotos avoiding gluten and dairy? Is it the lactose that isn’t tolerated?

I don’t eat an gluten anymore,if I have to have cows milk I get awful stomach pains a while later, but I have no stomach pains eating cream or cheese. Is it the lactose that is causing this?

What’s the reason we need to avoid all dairy??

You don't necessarily need to avoid all dairy. Just avoid what upsets you. :)

Some people react to lactose, others to casein which is only in cows milk.

I think you'll find casein is in all milk. There might be differences in the precise form, but it is there.

There are two types of "special" milk available in supermarkets. Lactose free (Arla) which I use as it is free of milk sugar or lactose. I use the milk and cream but find I am OK with "normal" butter and hard cheese such as cheddar. I avoid soft cheese and only like plain yoghurt.

The other "special" milk is for those affected by milk protein (casein) can't remember the name but shouldn't be too difficult to find if you have time to read the labels.

Try them both, but allow a week between each one, see what your symptoms are like.

Tesco have lots of lactose-free products. My OH is lactose intolerant and I can bake just about anything with the products available: marscapone, cream, yogurt, Brie, cheddar cheese and feta, to name but a few. What I cannot find is a lactose free butter, only a butter spread which has oils in it as well so I make butter from the lactose free cream. Ghee has no lactose in it.

I think it’s the lactose I can’t have as cheese and cream have less lactose in and I don’t react cows milk has a lot more. I tried goats milk also and was fine 🙂

Cow milk is a burden for digestion. Sour milk is OK.

Soya products, cabbage and few other - in small quantity.

They lower the effect of Levo.

I tried Armour thyroid. They produce it in Florida from the glands of small pigs. Lost 5 kg in 10 days. Felt great. But the protein is hard and difficult for digestion. My kidneys complained and I stopped it.

Read that H.Clinton is on Armour .....

Heard about combined T3 and Levo pills avaliable in Europe ?

Unfortunately GP and endocrinologist s are Not very supportive !

Cows have 3 stomach for digestion and we- only one

I think that is only GM cows. :-) :-) :-)

Rumen – This is the first part of the cow’s stomach. It helps break down complex plant products like grass.

Reticulum – Here the food mixes with the cow’s saliva and produces cud. Cows burp up the cud into their mouths and chew it to help break it down more. When you see a cow that looks like she is chomping on bubble gum, really she is chewing her cud.

Omasum – Here all the water is absorbed out of the food.

Abomasum – Here is where the food is finally digested, similar to what happens in a human stomach.
