Is there a preference when to take Levo? I’ve been taking mine before bed for ten years. Sometimes my sleep is restless and I wake with a fast pulse. My pharmacist commented that some people find they sleep better taking Levo in the morning. After all these years should I change to mornings?
Thx Liz

I used to take mine in the morning, for years. Last year I began having issues and I switched to at night. I’d say this works better for me, both in terms of how well I feel but also practically, as it’s away from food etc.
However, three days ago I increased my dose to the highest I’ve ever taken and the last two nights my sleep has been very broken. I’m waking feeling quite anxious as I was months ago when my cortisol levels were poor.
I’m hoping this will settle as it’s not happened to me before but I thought it was an interesting, albeit very small observation 🤔
Try it, see how you feel. It's very individual. Some people find taking it in the morning better for them, others are best taking it at night. Just experiment but bear in mind that whenever you take it then it needs to be on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, with a glass of water, and water only one hour each side. Also keep away from other medication and supplements by 2 hours, some need 4 hours. If taking it at night and evening meal is the biggest meal of the day, then leave 3 hours before taking Levo.
The instructions were always to take it in the morning, but I've just read a PIL that states "you should usually take your tablets before breakfast or first meal of the day" which makes me wonder if the "usually" has been inserted as a nod to the fact that some fairly recent research found that for some, night time dosing may be better. So as always, do what works best for you. After decades of morning dosing, I swapped to nighttime to accommodate my growing number of other "take in the morning" meds, and experienced no difference good or bad.
Why don't you try splitting your T-4 dose . Take half of your T-4 in the AM and the other half in the afternoon . Some dose that way and feel better . It sounds a bit strange but it works . And if it works that's what counts .
