I’m tried both morning and evening for my T4 and slow release T3 and settled on evening. However I’m still not 100% and wonder if it’s due to not always allowing 4 hours after my evening meal before taking. I’ve read 45 mins to an hour before food is ok, so perhaps morning is better for consistency of absorption?
Any views or experiences would be great!

Thanks, I wondered that, but I can’t really say as I’m concerned I’m getting inconsistent absorption due to taking after food. Might just have to switch to morning and reassess in 6 weeks
I normally take my T3 first thing in the morning with water at least 1 hour before food/drink. When I split my dose I would wait 2 hours after food/drink. I also leave 2 hours either side for supplements and 4 hours for iron or vit d.
I very much doubt that I'll ever feel 100% ever again but I manage OK and suspect that's the same for a lot of people here.
Do you have specific symptoms that need looking at or is it just your general wellbeing? Recent blood results may help pinpoint the problem if you have them.
Thanks for the insights - just generally not 100% as not tolerating exercise very well. I just want to be sure I’m doing all I can to maximise my wellness. I take supplements over 4 hours away too
I take my T3 first in the morning as that was how I was told to take it and then my T4 about an hour later, always on a empty stomach. Works better for me. I never mix any medication due to absorption. My T4, I have been on all my life and that is how I was told to take it and my parents have given it to me as a child many moons ago.
I also take my Vitamin D tablets later in the day, at least four hours or more afterwards and my iron tablet before I go to bed.
Never heard or understand why people have been told to take it at night.
Thanks, that’s a thought to take them both separately, anything is worth trying.
The night approach for me was to be sure it was away from Food but also I read that T4 peaks in the early hours so taking at night is mot similar to normal function.
I was always told right or wrong that the T3 works as a "wake up" med as it supposed to be fast working. That is how it feels for me. But these days, I think the powers that be lol just make it as they go along and expect us to believe lol. Hope it works for you anyway, anything is worth a try.
Yes me too. I have found a lot of information here.
When I last saw a Endo, she dismissed the T3 theory but then I asked her if she had a thyroid condition, to which the reply was "No" but then she was trying to get me off the medication which miserably failed for her. Needless to say, the consultation did not end well and I reported her conduct too. Thus did not get me far, but hopefully she will think twice before dismissing other patients. I stand my ground when I have to lol.
I take T3 only. I haven't found it to be a 'wake-up med'. What T3 does is to be absorbed quickly but it has to saturate our T3 receptor cells and thereafter it sends out 'waves' and one dose lasts between one to three days. After levo it is a joy to take T3.
As I said before Shaws, we get told theories which most of us take with a pinch of salt these days but , I have no doubt you are right and would make sense.
All I can say, it works better for me to take it the way I do.
I agree that good whole food and quality targeted supplements are ideal. I have a nutribullet and use regularly. I’ve not read that, so I’ll check it out.
I’ve had good results with Sara Gottfried hormone cure, highly recommended!
