T3 dose reduction

Hello

In my last post I said because my T3 was 7.2 my GP told me to reduce my T3 from 60 micro grams daily to 40 micro grams daily, I've managed to do this, my question is, how long will it be before I feel any ill affects of the reduction? days or weeks?

I think you'd feel the difference quite quickly as T3 is not T4 (which has a long life).

Very quickly indeed you'll feel the difference. How do you actually feel generally before the reduction and since? 7.2 is not that high for fT3. Your dose at 60mcg is not high either.

Monitor it as 40mcg/day could make you feel worse overall. If you do feel worse from being on 40 for a few days, try upping your dose on another day and see how you feel. If you feel better as a result of an increase, it is a sign you did/do need a higher dose.

Do keep a check on your heart rate, especially when increasing doses. The heart can become Euthyroid before other organs.

To my surprise I feel better, no more overheating the range I was given is T3 4,2 to 4,6 .

Good too if you do well on a lower dose. I'm too used to reading about people who end up getting worse when doctors lower the dose for patients.

Things can change in the future. Just be aware adjustments may need to be made up or down to your dose.

Thats very kind of you, I was getting so hot I had to take a cold shower to stop from passing out, I got so hot at night I wouldn't use the duvet but still wake up with a red face, you would think I had sunburn, and a funny feeling at the front of my head too and thats all gone,
