T3 with thyroxine

Hi

I’m currently prescribed 125mg of levethyroxine, my GP in Scotland won’t prescribed t3 due to my blood results. However I continue to feel like crap and have put on 5 stone which I can’t shift. Can I buy t3 and add it in? If so is there a specific website or band and one could recommend and how much is a safe dose?

Hi, you may get some replies if you post your test results. Personally I don’t think that taking T3 is good for weight loss. All the best

Thanks Aurealis should I just ask my doctor for that information? Also Have you found something else of more benefit?

Thyroid antibodies

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Vitamins and minerals need to be optimal for thyroid hormone to work, so need to be tested before adding T3.

If you're in the UK, just ask at the reception desk for a print out, less hassle than a GP who will want to know why you want them then tell you that you don't need them! We're legally entitled to our results and if you're asked why you want them just say they're for your own records.
