Hi back on thyroxine and t3 ,was on t3 only .On 50 MCG thyroxine and 20 t3,was on 40/45 of t3 only.Feeling done in.Raised to thyroxine 62 . 5 and 20 t3 a day for 3 weeks.Feel really heavy pains in hips and knee, feel stiff and s heavy.Thought I would feel more energy but feel worse.Any ideas ? Should I raise thyroxine to 75 ?I went on t3 to see if it helped but it only helped a little so really want to go back on thyroxine only as less bother.or just a top up of t3 as it does hep my mood.Still have not got to the reason why I have fetsoil for4 years after 16 years of treated hashimotos.

Susiebow,

Do you have thyroid results and ranges from when you were taking 50mcg Levothyroxine and 20mcg T3?

Have you had ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate tested in the last year or so?

Hi Clutter,my TSH was 0.62, T3 was4.7 on thyroxine 50 and t3 20 in September this year. Not had ferritin done for longtime last was 69.Vit d was 38 I think ,been supplementing with that.

Susiebow,

There is scope to increase thyroxine to 75mcg which will raise FT4 and FT3.

Ask your GP to retest ferritin if it is longer than 12 months since it was checked.

VitD 38 was insufficient. How much have you been supplementing and how long for?

Yes I have to say miss some days with vit d,but will get back on track.Been supplementing for over a year and upping outside exposure.Yes I think I will up thyroxine to 75 and keep t3 at 20,just afraid Of feeling hyper.Would I feel achy and heavy if I was hyper.

Susiebow,

Possibly but you can feel the same when hypo too. Your results don't indicate under or over medication.

How much vitD are you supplementing?

Low/deficient levels are common in hypothyroid patients and symptoms can be similar to hypothyroid symptoms so it's really worth checking out your ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate.

Get GP to test ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D

Or test privately

Can I just ask to clarify,if your TSH is low or suppressed and your t3 is midrange are you needing more medication and not hyper as tsh would indicate.
