Greek T3

I’m in Corfu at the moment and am able to buy over the counter uni pharma T3 €1.20 per pack.

It is good you got T3 but there has been an overall shortage in Greece for a while now. I believe part of the reason for the shortage of T3 is that people who don't have hypothyroidism have been bought by people to sell T3 on at higher costs to desperate people.

I, myself, had difficulty in Greece a couple of months ago and despite quite a number of people asking on my behalf - wherever in Greece they were - many pharmacists had none at all and couldn't order as they used to be able to do.

Just got another 4 packets, seems they will only sell me two packets at a time but went to two pharmacy’s today...

Its always gobsmacking to see the low retail price & hence the low cost of production.I can feel myself getting angry...

I think that is the disgrace of it all. Firstly to know the NHS is being ripped off (at the patients expense) secondly that the government continues to allow it to happen...... truly a disgraceful situation.

Yes, it’s depressing that Pharmacy companies are able to rip off the NHS and keep people ill. It’s disgusting that any business is allowed to profit from people’s ill health.

What a crazy world!Instead of sourcing T3 at the same cost as thyroxine,the powers that be declare it unecessary-ie we must be experiencing a placebo effect!

I'm glad you were able to get some. My husband has just come back from Athens with four boxes of T3 for me at €1.15, I'm overjoyed! Other pharmacies offered to order some in but he would have left before it arrived. Amazingly the price hasn't changed since I last bought some on Kefalonia 4 years ago.

I've taken several photos of the boxes this evening showing what's in them, who makes it, where their HQ is and what the price is, and would love to send it to some MPs and NHS executives. But the more this saga of overpricing goes on, the more I think they're only concerned with competition rules and not patients.

Do you happen to know the area of this pharmacy that offered to order some for him? I’m going to try cold calling to get them to order some before I get there.

Quilliam, the pharmacies which offered to order T3 in were in Vougliameni, and they could get it in within 2 days, but he went to them in the evening. Normally I think a 1 or 2 day timescale for ordering is usual, so you could order on your first day depending how long you'll be there. It was in Athens where one pharmacy had some in stock and was willing to sell it. Are you going to Athens? If so I'll PM you the name.

No we were in Corfu, hit all the pharmacy’s this morning and got 12 packets

I am going to plan a quick trip next week. Do you think if I fly in early and flight out in the evening, I could find enough close to the airport? I was going to order online, but after reading the reviews, I'm afraid they are out of stock.

I'm not worried about the costs, just trying to get some T3....

Where we were staying was around 10 mins drive from the airport. I managed to get 12 packets from 6 pharmacy’s around that area. A few were only going to give me one packet and I asked for two. A few said they had no stock. I just did a morning where I hit all the pharmacy’s I found. I think the airport is near the town walking distance for sure but I don’t know how many pharmacy’s are in the town as I never went there. I hope this helps

Thanks red apple, I have made a new post that won’t make sense to anyone outside of this thread. But I have put a photo on of the packet
