Hello. I had subtotal thyroidectomy 4 years ago and since then ive been a hypothyroid suffering all the heart-aching symptoms of hypothyroidism from hair loss, constipation, fatigue, muscle pain etc. But what really pains me is gaining tons and tons of weight. Im currently on 50mcg Levo but im not feeling any better. Im still adding more weight regardless of the same amount of food taken.
Has anyone tried Thiroyd and noticed weight loss?? Im about to take Thiroyd for the frirst time and I would really appreciate any feedback..

Have you been on 50 mcg for four years? If so, your doctor has been negligent. He should have retested six weeks after starting you on that dose, and increased it by 25 mcg. And carried on like that until you felt well.
Thiroyd is NDT, and like other NDTs contains T3. You need optimal T3 to be able to lose weight. But, not thyroid hormone is a weight-loss drug. It is a treatment for hypothyroidism. And before it will do anything for you, you need to have your nutrients optimal. Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested? If so, post the results on here, with the ranges, and let's have a look.
You are doubtless under-medicated, and that will probably be causing your weight-gain. But there's no guarantee that Thiroyd will work any better for you than levo, if you were on the right dose.
Thank you for the swift reply. Initially i was prescribed with 25mcg levo. It took a lot of argument with with endo just to have my dose increased to 50mcg. Ive been retested several times but lab results shows my hormones are in normal range. This is d reason why she keeps me on low dose of levo. I find it annoying that she insists that i should be feeling okay. I know im not feeling okay.. i feel so drained out.
Do you have a copy of your results? If so, post them here, with ranges. Just being in range is not good enough. It's where in the range the results fall that is important. Is she a diabetes specialist?
As greygoose has stated you need to obtain a copy of your thyroid blood results, don't rely on the GP's/Endo's to make you feel better, when they state the results are 'normal' what they mean is, they are in the lab ranges.
Once you have your blood results post them on here and the more experienced members can have a look at them.
I saw a Endo, he was a waste of my time and money, this is when I discovered this forum, and after further research, it became apparent I knew more about thyroid issues than him.
50 mcg of levo is a low dosage and a starter dosage for most people, I started on 50 mcg of levo.
If you have no joy obtaining your blood results then perhaps you would consider private blood tests.? Many on here do this, including me.
You need to test TSH, T3 & T4, the results will come direct to you. If you decide to do this make sure that your blood test is first thing in the morning before 9am, and don't take your levo before the test, no eating and only drink water.
Medi checks and blue horizons offer the test I have mentioned. what about your vitamins levels, iron, B12 and Vitamin D?
