I’ve been taking T3 since the beginning of May. For a while I felt a bit better with a bit more energy. I still had days when I was wiped out but overall I think there was an improvement. But now I feel terrible. Really dizzy, tinnitus worse, headache body thrumming all over and weight on my chest. Endo has suggested I take a 20mcg tablet T3 at night and increase T4 from 75 to 100mcg in the morning.

Results of NHS blood test

T4 12.8 range 10.8 - 25.5

T3 5.7 range 3.1 - 6.8

TSH 0.04

Blue Horizon test

How much T3 are you currently taking?

Your Ferritin needs increasing, it's said that it need to be at least 70 for thyroid hormone to work properly.

Folate is low, if you're not taking a B Complex I'd take Igennus Super B, 2 tablets daily, and that has 400mcg methylfolate and 900mg B12 as methylcobalamin and that should nudge your B12 level up a bit as well.

Hi SS. I’m taking 20mcg T3 at night and just started taking 100mcg of T4 in the morning — since those results. I was taking 75 T4 at the time. Some days don’t feel too bad but last couple of days have been awful. Suddenly went really dizzy ( have had that before and always a bit light headed) which is really unpleasant and tinnitus, headache and body thrumming is unbearable. Had this last weekend and I skipped a day of medication and felt better. Where can I buy Igennus Super B? And as I don’t like liver I struggle with ferritin. Should I take iron tablets ? Or eat more red meat ? I’m quite veggie, but do eat meat.

Ah, so he's only increasing Levo, that might help because your FT4 is very low. I'm on Levo plus T3 but I need both FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges.

Amazon and Bodykind both sell Igennus Super B.

As iron is complicated, more than just Ferritin, so I can't say if an iron supplement is right for you. If you had high serum iron then you wouldn't want an iron supplement.

Not helping so far! Making me feel worse! Had loads of other blood tests antinuclear antibodies etc but only show a weak positive. I have Hashis but my last 2 tests have shown low antibodies. I still

feel awful a lot of the time. I’ll

get some folate and B vits. I found Jarrows had a really bad effect on me. Ok with Solgar sub lingual

B12 which I take once or twice a week. So how do I get my ferritin up? Anything to feel better.

Other members have said they have a bad reaction to Jarrows B Right, which is why I never suggest it.

You don't need a separate folate supplement, the Igennus Super B contains 400mcg methylfolate in the suggested serving of 2 tablets which should be enough to raise your Folate level and the extra B12 will help raise your B12 level.

For your Ferritin, I can only suggest hiding liver in any meat dish like cottage pie, curry, casserole, bolognese, or eat liver pate regularly, black pudding and other iron rich foods.

Ok thanks SS. I am partial to Mand S oak aged filet steak! That must have iron in it - just that it’s hard to get hold of and quite pricey. Otherwise I must see if I can hide some liver in heavily chillied chillie ! Should disguise it.

Not sure how easy it is to mince liver but worth a try, or cut into very small pieces. I've also heard that some people cut it very small, freeze the pieces and take like a tablet, but you'd need some every day, up to about 100g per week until your level is up to half way through range.

Why can’t iron be in foods that are a bit more palatable? Pate is ok on toast but wouldn’t want it every day. Liquorice ? Red wine ? Spinach ?

You can easily find lists of iron rich foods if you Google. I am on my tablet and my link is on my PC so I can't give you that at the moment.

Be careful with liquorice because it can raise blood pressure.

Of course thanks SS. And good tip RE liquorice.

As well as SeasideSusie excellent recommendations, are you on strictly gluten free diet as you have Hashimoto's?

I do try to be gluten free, and but most things “free from” ( although not porridge)

but it is difficult sometimes eating out. If I knowingly have gluten though I think I might feel better for a few days! Haven’t noticed any immediate detrimental effects but when eating at home I am gluten free ( although porridge is a ?)

The analysis from the lab from my results says I may be taking too much T3 ?
