Getting head around food

Hello,

Can someone give me the basics of what we shouldn’t eat? Is it stay away from gluten and dairy?

And fewer carbs?

I’ve been on T3 (I know I’m lucky) and feeling a lot better but I keep getting viral throat and wondering if it’s food (along with stress) causing it.

Any ideas? I am also a very fussy eater so really struggling.

Thanks Kate

The things you really shouldn't eat are :

all forms of soy

artificial sweeteners

processed seed oils

and all processed foods because they contain all of the above.

Gluten is something that upsets some people - usually people with Hashi's. People with Hashi's are often gluten-sensitive, even if they don't have Coeliac. Try it, see if it makes you feel better. If it doesn't, try eating gluten again, and see what happens.

Same goes for dairy, dairy upsets some people and they feel better without it. But, giving up gluten and dairy is not going to cure your Hashi's, or make your thyroid work better. So, you really shouldn't feel you should absolutely avoid them. Eat what makes you feel good, and avoid what doesn't.

As for carbs, low-carb diets help some people lose weight, but not everybody. But, don't go too low, because you need a certain amount of carbs to convert.

I very much doubt that any kind of food is giving you a viral throat - more like a virus. :)

Maybe your throat problem is due to reflux?

in reply toSmallBlueThing

The doc said i was reacting as glands up in neck. I have no tonsils and have had glandular fever 12 years ago. Then facial shingles in July. Been stressed to.

Not sure about reflux. I will research it.

Just a possibility to consider. There's silent reflux and reflux can also be due to consuming acidic foods, which irritate the throat when they are swallowed.
