The tentacles of Big Pharma spread far and wide ...

Just what I was about to write. I am sure we are right in this and I am very concerned as my T3 comes courtesy of my friend on holiday every year in Paxos.

... is friend still able to get T3 in Paxos ?

I'm not sure where she is to be honest, wasn't expecting this to happen tho.

I was asking Hennerton about her friend in Paxos - sorry - I know how confusing threads can be !

This year, yes, but probably not next! Then it’s back to Mercury Pharma from my GP, if I am still allowed it, but it is in no way as good for me as Unipharma.

Same here I get it prescribed but still prefer tiromel.

I have complained to the MHRA about the quality of Mercury Pharma but nobody listened or cared. Is the shelf life still so appallingly short?

I never even thought of that I've just been throwing mine in the cupboard because I was buying the tiromel oops

Morningside Healthcare is better than Mercury Pharma (but changing brands can take a while to get use to)

That is interesting as I did obtain a packet when it first came out but only tried it for a few days before going back to my Unipharma. Perhaps I should try again and give it a decent chance?

Great result :-) I have to produce a prescription here in Crete and then buy it OTC ... they seem to have tightened up here ...

As you say the tentacles spread on and on and nobody will listen. I think the MHRA are run by Big Pharma.

A friend of mine returned from holiday in Turkey last week. She had no problems getting me 6 packs Tiromel 25mg X 100 tabs per box. Luckily I have NHS prescription but wanted some as a back up plan given the conspiracy going on over the price of T3 in the UK. The expiry date on all boxes are May 2019. The pharmacy said they could order more in for me if she wanted to buy more! Suggest your friend tries another town/province in Turkey. My GP admitted to me that actually T3 is the drug of preference in Europe. Why the UK is backward on this is beyond me. MRHA need to get their finger out and give a licence for pharmaceutical manufacturer's to supply T3 from the EU. The patent has long ago been removed and it should cost pennies not pounds. No wonder there are so many hypothyroid patients still having symptoms because they are told T4 is some wonder drug when in reality it is T3's poorer cousin!

Thank you for your reply, I'm not sure where in Turkey she is but a colleague is going this month and seen as we work in a pharmacy maybe he'll have a better chance of getting them to order it for me, 20 years I suffered on T4 I had no life worth mentioning, it wasn't until I discovered this site and T3 that I came back to life again, pity about the 20 years I lost tho, T3 for me really is a life giver.

I was borderline hypothyroid 29 year's ago, it was not until 17 year's ago they finally gave me T4. Every dose under the sun but still sick. It's only recently my Cardiologist took pity on me and has given me a trial of T3. I feel so much better on T3 only, it's early days for me. I have the faulty DI02 gene so cannot convert. I really think you should demand an NHS prescription as you have proved to yourself you are better on T3. It's a scandal and a total disgrace. You should not have all this hassle to acquire a drug that keeps you functioning and healthy. I am sure you would have asked this question. But perhaps if you were to suggest that you are thinking of taking legal action for medical negligence they might change their minds. I have to face my Endocrinologist in October, he has no idea I have ditched the poisen T4. In fact during our last consultation a medical student was sitting in, he had the audacity to state " With this patient you could consider adding in some T3, but we don't offer this treatment in the UK". Can't wait to see his face. If he tries to withdraw my NHS prescription I will sack him and go to my MP. I do hope your friend is able to obtain the T3 that you need do badly. NHS have wasted thousands of pounds on testing me for some other mystery disease I was not suffering from. All for the sake of a cheaply produced hormone. I mean you wouldn't be refused insulin if your body needed it. Someone in our NHS or MRHA is on a backhander and this needs investigating. Unfortunately those of us who need this hormone are so unwell just struggling to get through the day the whole thing is a minefield.
