Wanted a really good doctor, why is that so difficult to find?!

Having fought for my thyroid health for the past 8 years with the nhs I am exhausted, frustrated and desperately disappointed!! And all I’ve achieved is to be insulted, poorly treated and left unwell!

I have just had to move GP’s and as a result they are refusing to continue my prescription of t3 medication. So I’m done with the fight and I’d like to go private. I have done this a number of times over the years with varying success!

Because of this I have a doctor wish list and would love actually recommendations rather than just a suggested list as I can’t afford to keep seeing different doctors till I find the right fit!

I’m looking for a doctor who looks at a full thyroid panel including RT3, who isn’t scared by suppressed TSH and is open to prescribing t3 or NDT. Someone who can keep looking for reasons and finding solutions when levels appear normal but I’m still symptomatic (reason for medication not to be getting to the cellular level) (sometimes it is more complicated than just adding t3 and supporting adrenals) someone proficient in balancing sex hormones and has an interest and experience in gene mutations and their potential and actual impact on health and treatments.

Most of all someone who’s willing to listen, respect and work in partnership with their patient!

I know this sounds like a job description and I guess it kind of is! doctors don’t come cheap and I’d like my money and energy going to someone who truly want to see their patients not only live but thrive !

Many thanks!

I’m in Suffolk, but I’m willing to travel! Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire or London are ideal though!

Following your post Binski. I’m in Norfolk near the border to Suffolk. If you manage to find a good Dr/Endo please do let me know! Your experience sounds almost exactly the same as my own. I haven’t managed to find anyone decent throughout Norfolk so far unfortunately. I’ve secondary hypothyroidism and have two good friends who also live in other parts of Norfolk who have other particular thyroid issues too. Between us we’ve tried very hard for a long while to find good Drs & Endo’s in the county, but unfortunately also without any success.
