Getting Ferritin up to a good level

My Ferritin has always been borderline and I am trying to get this up to a good level for when I next do a blood test in 6 weeks.

I am currently taken 2 x floradix iron tablets a day one in morning and one at night along with vitamin c, d and b vitamins, magnesium.

Would this do the job, my other levels were brought into mid range this year by supplementation but I have only recently in the last 3 months started to supplement with iron.

It would seem that there is 7mg elemental iron in one Floradix tablet, so you are getting 14mg elemental iron per day. Compare that to 1 x ferrous fumarate which has 65mg elemental iron.

What was your ferritin level when tested?

one at night along with vitamin c, d and b vitamins, magnesium.

By the way, if you take an iron tablet with anything else it affects their absorption so you will get little to no benefit from them. You can take Vit C with iron to help absorption, but anything else should be taken 2 hours away from iron.

So you need to bring your levels up. I'd start eating liver regularly to go along with your Floradix. Maximum amount of liver 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, and include lots of iron rich foods in your diet apjcn.nhri.org.tw/server/in...

Hi Susie, according to that list I should be fine as I drink lots of cocoa and eat curry and chocolate!

I will buy some liver once a week then, or liver pâté would that do the trick?

Yes liver pate is fine, as is black pudding. With the liver pate though, don't overdo it, treat the same as liver for the total maximum amount per week.

Just realised I've been spelling your username incorrectly in previous posts, my apologies :)
