Good Afternoon. I have just picked up these results for my daughter and would be grateful if anyone can give me any idea as to what is going on. The first page of results are in the photo the rest are typed below. I hope this is ok to post them this way as am not really good on the computer. My daughter is teetotal.
Serum albumin level 42g/l (35-50)
Bone profile (44Z2)
Serum alkaline phosphatase level 61iu/L (30-120)
Serum alanine aminotransferase 61 (0-40) - above high ref limit
Serum alkaline phosphatase level 61iul (30-120)
Serum gamma-glutamyl transerase level 17 (1-55)
Urea and electrolytes; Liver function tests; Bone profile report, Borderline need to repeat test.
You will note that the serum alkaline phosphatase level has been recorded twice do you think that this was done in error and that there should have been a result for Aspartate aminotransferase instead? She is still very unwell with very low energy and needing to sleep a lot. She is always thirsty too.
Thanks Catlover3

We can see that her B12 is high - is she supplementing? If not this needs looking into.
Folate is a bit low, it should be at least half way through it's range.
As she has a persistent neck lymph node and her result is just over range, has this been investigated?
TSH at 1.5 (0.38-5.55) is euthyroid (normal) but this is not the complete picture. She needs FT4, FT3 and thyroid antibodies tested. If her FT4 comes back low then this can suggest Central Hypothyroidism where the problem lies with either the pituitary (secondary hypothyroidsm) or the hypothalamus (tertiary hypothyroidism). This is nowhere near as common as Primary Hypothyroidism and so often gets missed.
If her GP can't get the other thyroid tests done then it would be a good idea to do a private test with Medichecks or Blue Horizon.
Also, there is no ferritin or Vit D and these are important.
Thanks to you both for your replies. I have arranged for her to have more blood tests with blue horizon. Her gp is not very approachable and its like getting blood out of a stone to get her to agree to test further. Even though her liver test came back with needing to be re-tested she wasn't going to re-do them until I pushed her! Her B12 is high but was over 2000 as she had an injection in Jan/Feb but it will be tested again this time. They didn't bother to test her ferritin or D3 but that's nothing unusual! She is having another ultrasound scan on her lymph glands but it will probably not show anything. Fed up as we seem to be going nowhere. Catlover3
