Some issues with levo+T3, help please.

Hello, I take 125mcg levo and 12,5 T3, all in the morning. My main problem with levothyroxine is anxiety with tunnel vision about 2 hours after I take it and at noon drowsiness, brain fog, blurred vision etc, occurs. I take some vit., B12, D3, Se and zinc but it seems that does not help. Due RAI, for a few years I have no thyroid. I think the morning anxiety comes from too much levothyroxine at once.

So I thought to split the dose , 62,5mcg levo in the morning and 62,5 levo in the afternoon. Any ideas are welcome, thank you!

Splitting the levo dose wont make any different, it has no immediate effect and it takes a week for a dose to enter the body's cells properly. I would split the T3 dose.

Good move. It's more likely too much T3 at once and splitting the dose may help.

Have you tried taking Levothyroxine at bedtime?

Many take early morning on waking, but it may be more convenient and possibly more effective taken at bedtime

Always take Levo on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after.

Even NHS advise no calcium rich food within four hours of taking Levothyroxine (most of us have milk or yogurt for breakfast)

If you get on with bedtime dosing, then you might take 6.25mcg at bedtime and 6.25mcg on waking.

What are your current thyroid and vitamin results and ranges

Another problem is that if I take too much t3 I weight gain.

Do a blood glucose testing. You may be getting hypoglycemic from the T3.

Had the same problem so stopped the T3. I was also gaining weight.

Yes I do too. Mainly because my appetite increases :)

You may be taking too much T3 in one go causing an imbalance. Taking Levothyroxine at bedtime is a good plan but two daytime doses of Liothyronine (split current dose) may give you better results than taking it in one dose.

Have you any recent test results for thyroid and vitamins as that may help us as well. Don't forget the ranges as they differ from lab to lab.

Wait a minute maybe this should be a new thread but you're saying you gain weight with T3? Anybody else? I weigh more now than I did when I was on T4 only but then my T3 levels go below range

I do not know the explanation, but I think T3 makes the t4 drop indeed. I do not know what happened with Clutter (it disappeared) but he said a while ago that, ft4 drop if we take t3 because the body receives t3 directly and no longer needs to convert it, but there is the risk of turning it into reverse t3 and that can lead to weight gain, ....someting like that. I do not know if it's right maybe other members know the situation better than me.

Higher T3 can raise glucose levels by some . And some can loss weight with T4 with a small dose T3 . It really is a balancing act Between T3 and T4 .

Strength and Sympathy . Did you recently add the T3 to your T4 ? If yes did you lower your T4 accordingly if needed ? If you did add recently your T3 did you do it slowly ?Do you split your T3 during the day ? Some of us are more sensitive and need to split the T3 . Some do great with all in one go once a day dosing . I'm not one of them . I find that splitting my T3 a few times a day is very helpful and works much better for me .

I hope you get it sorted out soon .

Hi jgelliss, I struggle with the disease(hipo) for about 6 years and I tried many combinations(levo, ndt, levo+ndt, levo+t3) in many ways. About two months I'm on Tirosint(levo gel caps) and T3(cynomel from aventis) . I tried to split T3 dose but the second dose causes me palpitations, shortness of breath, anxiety and eyes discomfort no matter when I take it(4-10pm afternoon). So I think the best time for me is in the morning. I tried to lower the T4 dose but I felt bad. So, my main problem is that, weight gain on synthetic T3. Strange because on ndt it did not happen to me. Maybe in the future I will try Tirosint+ndt ( 88mcg Tirosint and 1grain ndt).
