How do i get a private prescription for thybon henning
Could your GP issue a private prescription for it?
Here are other posts discussing it: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
Unlicensed does not mean your GP cannot prescribe. If he/she is willing to take responsibility, your GP can give you a private prescription, or even prescribe on NHS using the 'named patient' basis. More info here thyroiduk.org/tuk/treatment...
Your GP can give you an NHS prescription for 'liothyronine' (NOT 'liothyronine sodium' as Thybon Henning is liothyronine hydrochloride). Instead of taking the NHS prescription to a local chemist you can forward it to a German internet chemist. This is much simpler, just get your GP to prescribe 50 or 100 tablets and state how many to take each day. Although it is an NHS prescription you will have to pay the thirty odd euros for 100 tablets.
Presumably the GP will also have to specify the dose of the tablets. Is Thybon Henning 20mcg or 25mcg?
20 mcg like UK which makes it easy, just need to specify 50 or 100 tablets to coincide with TH pack size. Make sure you order 'Thybon 20 Henning', 'Thybon 100 Henning' is levothyroxine which is rather confusing.
Thybon henning is liothyronine not thyroxine...its chloride not sodium...my gps wont help
Apologies, it gets confusing. I was trying to point out that you should order Thybon 20 Henning 100 pc and not Thybon 100 Henning bennewitz.com/scat/scatphar... . Also not to be confused with L Thyroxin 100 Henning bennewitz.com/scat/scatphar... which is levothyroxine. So it's 'Thybon 20 Henning' people should order.
My gp refuses point blank so do others in my area...it s classed as unlicenced the brand i need. They dont want to prescribe liothyroine at all any more. Im back on my own with all this running out of perrigo mayne and sigma ive recently purchased at great cost i cannot take...mayne must have changed ingredients. I can only book private gp at spire or endo costing 120 im being priced out of life
Do i have to seek private gp or private endo...gawd im running out of cash medicine options time and the will to live this constant battle
Just out of curiosity, why are you specifying that you need Thybon Henning. There are other options available, some of which don't need a prescription at all.
Cornflower, will your GP prescribe liothyronine 20 mcg? If so you can obtain Thybon 20 Henning via an online pharmacy at reasonable cost.
If your GP will not write a prescription for liothyronine, NHS or private, then you will need to find a doctor who will. All that is needed is a prescription for liothyronine whether it is NHS or private doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that Thybon is unlicensed in the UK, you are simply taking (sending) your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice which happens to be in Germany.
Thanks for reply jim....this gp refuses its the large surgery where i live...i cant go out of the catchment area...6 miles away the chemist only stock thybon henning but i cant go to their gp...im stuck...ive involved mp again. .but if gp refuses and tells me find another as no other gp in the practise will go against..practise rules to save money
So sorry, my GP is great, gave me an NHS and private prescription last week when I asked for it to be changed to 100 tablets so I can order from Germany and save the NHS loads of money (and get decent L-T3). Bennewitz accepted the NHS prescription and have dispatched the tablets on Monday, I expect them soon. I believe UK pharmacies that supply Thybon Henning as a 'special' rip the NHS off also. The irony is that under MHRA regulations non-licensed medicines cannot be prescribed on the basis of cost, they can only be prescribed based on clinical need that is not met by a licensed medicine. I'd like to get at these bureaucrats and politicians with a baseball bat to knock some sense into them.
Sadly you will need to find a doctor who will write an NHS or private prescription. If the rules are to save money would your doctor prescribe if you say you are going to pay for the medicine yourself?
Jim..i asked for a private prescript was also refused as gp wrongly believes and has been advised this is an unlicensed drug...and refused...the problem is the other gps in the practise wont now go against another gp. I am very limited by catchment area
My GP says it's the kind of prescription you're given for things you need to pay for, like travel vaccines. It's printed on the white side of an NHS prescription, and says private patient, liothyronine 20mcg, to be taken as directed. I've just received some from mycare.de/en/online-kaufen/.... You have to post the presription to them.
I cant get a gp in my small village to prescribe me sweet f.a. to save my life. Down the road a few miles is a different story the pharmacist tells me they get prescripts all the time and thybon is the only thing in stock always. Three pharmacists told me it is NOT unlicenced however..i am running out of meds and helpless
There are 3 licensed brands of liothyronine in the UK which you could buy privately with a presciption at a ridiculous price. IF your GP wrote you prescription for generic liothyronine, how would s/he know whether you were going to buy the expensive brand or another cheaper 'unlicensed' kind?
