A VLCD would make you more hypo. You need calories to convert. If you can't convert, your FT3 drops and you put on more weight. Like shooting yourself in the foot, really. Besides, is your extra weight really fat? If not, no diet will help. You need optimal T3 to be able to lose the weight.

I really, really doubt it would help. That's not enough calories for a hypo. and cutting carbs is not recommended for hypos, anyway.

But, as I said, are you certain that your weight-gain is actually fat?

Do you have a copy of your last blood test results? If so, post them here, with the ranges. You are more than likely under-medicated.

As grey goose mentions, low calories generally makes me put on weight and does the opposite you'd imagine for both me and my mum. Defintely need all your calories if your hypothyroid. Dieting doesn't help. Mu mum just lost three stone she could never shake from finally eating more :-D

you mentioned you were low in your vitamins. What were your results of these too and what did they put you on? Any reason you might have been low? What's your diet like, do you have any stomach issues? Do you eat enough?

Just looked at some of your test results, you need an increase in your thyroid meds. Next time you have test, do the test in the morning before you take your thyroid meds as might help convince them to increase it for starters. Would be better to do a complete thyroid panel to check them out properly even if you have to pay for it yourself.

Also, you should try a gluten free diet going by some of your issues. Changed my life and got rid of most of what you mention especially brain fog. Has to be 100% gluten free including cross contamination and do it for at least three months to know if will help. Might help fix why your vit levels are on the low side.

Obviously by eating more, I mean more good food but you should be eating 1750 calories a day and never less than 1500 :-)
