You say that your other thyroid tests were in range but where in the range. If you could post the results with ranges it would tell us if the results were optimal. Jo xx
I’m on 125mg thyroxine, fasting test pre medication. Other results are ft3 4.9 (3.8-6),Free t4 15 (8-18), b12 401 (over 140), serum folate 10.2 (over 4.0). The TSH has been stable at this level since I had the radio iodine treatment in 2010. I do have a low body temp and aching joints and sleep very heavily but otherwise am fairly good
Hi janey28. I'm sorry, but your results are not normal. Your TPO/ab (thyroid antibodies) is over range. This means that you have Hashimoto's, hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune disease. Your thyroid levels are not normal either. They are within the range, but they are too low and in the range, and are in the part of the range that causes your hypo thyroid symptoms. You are under medicated.
Your FT4 is not even 1/2 range, so it is too low. Yours is 15, and 1/2 range is 17. It should be above 17 but not higher than 19.5, otherwise you will probably have more symptoms. 4.625. Too low FT4 causes symptoms, just as too high does.
Your FT3 is also too low and causing symptoms. It should be close to, but not much over 3/4 range, or 5.45. Your level is 4.9.
By increasing your medication, your FT3 and FT4 will increase and you'll feel better. Your antibodies might also decrease as a result, and then you'd feel even better. Your TSH will decrease, as a result of your your frees increasing. You might have a hard time convincing your doctor to increase your medication, since he doesn't understand thyroid disease or Hashimoto's the way it is. Some people on this site have to purchase their own medication in order to get their thyroid disease properly treated. You could keep taking the 125 your doctor prescribes, but add additional mcg's on your own.
Also, it's recommended that people with Hashimoto's follow an autoimmune diet, which is gluten free. Some people also stop soya and dairy because they are also inflammatory. I ended up dropping all three because I have Hashi's too and I feel much better when not eating those foods.
You need to post all of you results with the ranges for people to help you.
Did you have the test fasting, early morning. What medication are you taking and for how

I have the same problem. It is mist significant when the T3 is wrong and mine is too low. The gp said yes thats fine, so i argued with him and he gave me a referal to an endocrinologist( a year and a half ahead) so i went private and he didnt charge me, but he also said my results were fine yet i am just above the bottom limit on all of them and below on T3! I am ill with symtoms, the fatigue is terrible. He decided then to send me to a neurologist- he said tonrule that out, but i don’t think in any ways it is a neurological disease, every time the pass on i feel really low and think i am just gioing to be left to it. Also this week I went to a supposed physiitherapist who turned out to also be an osteopath. Who looked at my hip exray saud it wasvery bad would need op. And didnt pay any attention to the pains i have in my back and both legs, so again i was sent away without help.
