my oncologist believes there is NO relation between my thyroid and elevated bilirubin or digestion issues ???? what the f ### ???

beyond my experience and common sense....I CAN GOOGLE THE RELATIONSHIP EXISTS

WORLD CLASS CANCER CENTER ...I AM CONFUSED ??

he is ordering a gastroenterologist ..perhaps he said this is GILBERTS SYNDROME

ADDICT 9 YEARS IN RECOVERY drink , smoke, drug and sugar free 9 years ..VERY clean food intake ( program-weighed and measured )- whole grains, fruits and vegetables , yogurt are staples ...but I am wondering how much diet is playing a role here ...

please help ...I believe i need a thyroid specialist ..and am crossing my fingers that CANCER IS NOT LURKING somewhere else -billrubin /lymphocytes SO ABNORMAL

From what i am reading.. I should involve a endocrinologist NOW

I WELCOME ALL FEEDBACK HERE...

i FEEL VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE FOUND YOU

SINCERELY,

MARK I

Hi marcopolo, welcome to the forum.

Do you have any thyroid results? Because 'in-range' means nothing. Certainly doesn't mean that levels are normal! So, if you could post the results and ranges, that would help people help you. :)

Thank you Greygoose ..i will ask for them today at my appt.

frustrated that my gp is staring at the liver closely ...this all began with hives / being cold / weight gain / hypothyroidism in nov.2017

Well, if there's a problem with your liver, it's best to know. But he should be looking at the thyroid, too. :)

To start with thyroid problems.....you only started levothyroxin in Dec/jan with 25 mcg, then went up to 50 mcg in March, 2018. TSH 'supposed normal..within range'. What is perceived as normal for doctors is not necessarily suitable for thyroid sufferers; TSH should be 1 or below, yours could be about 4 yet still be in range. You need the result plus range, and results of more than TSH, but T4 ,FT4 and FT3 too. Do you know if you are Hashimoto's hypothyroid with autoimmune antibodies ( percentage-wise it is the likely cause of your thyroid problems, but then percentage-wise most of us are female too!)? Hashimoto's notoriously combines with bad gut absorption, and limits our vitamin/mineral levels. Many people resort to going gluten free, even dairy free, to help with this, so diet can play a huge role for some. If you get the thyroid levels above tested with one blood draw, add B12, D3, folate and ferritin tests too, they are vital to good thyroid health at levels into the upper half of ranges. Look at SeasideSusie's posts for details. 50 mcg T4 tends to be a starter dose, and most would continue to add another 25 mcg after tests every 6 weeks or so. Don't know if it's any better in Canada but in the Uk many of us have to go down private blood test route to get the thyroid/ Vit/ min tests we want..costly but worth it as elsewise we don't get the full picture to start and maintain treatment. Your other results are abit overwhelming, don't know if anyone else on forum could help with this.

Thank you Judithalston.

I have very little Thyroid level data to share with you or anyone.

gp is focussing closely on liver..in the mean time I am uncomfortable physically and trying to stay sane with lymphocytes so low as well as bilirubin.

I will get more info today and will be requesting hematologist / endocrinologist/ gastroenterologist

thanks for requesting own lab work ...will inquire or seek a second opinion immediately

Gilbert’s syndrome is pretty common - may be coincidental to thyroid disease. Levels can go up and down

Look at all historic bilirubin tests

Hypothyroid and gluten intolerance is common - especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG thyroid antibodies

Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too

Thank you SlowDragon .

Billirubin - yes - will continue to request history

Have read the symptoms of Gilbert’s .. really not the ones I am experiencing right now. Keeping an open mind though..., and will go through the testing process.

I don’t believe I am eating any gluten ...but am not perfectly versed in exactly what it is or isn’t .

Presently Brown rice / oat bran / potatoes only are my carbohydrates.

Dairy 1% yogurt / minimum cheese is my only dairy

Tons of salad and vegetables fruit

9 years eating this way

ferritin , viatamin D , Folate and b12

Will request . Thank you for your input here - it is very helpful.

Should I insist on endocrinologist/ hematologist given lymphocytes .06 and billirubin 41 ?

Lymphocytes that low is a big red flag from everything I am reading
