I WENT TO SEE MY SURGEON WHO PERFORMED MY THYROID SURGERY IN MARCH. HE SAID ALL MY BLOOD TESTS HAVE COME BACK CLEAR. MORE BLOODS WERE TAKEN TODAY. I ASKED HIM WHY I HAD PUT ON WEIGHT AND HE SAID I NEEDED THYROXIN. HE WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITH MY GP. I HAVE TO GO BACK IN 6 MONTHS FOR A CHECK UP.

I think you need to get your results etc from your GP and post them with your ranges. You may need to wait awhile. Or contact the hospital and ask for them. Mine always copies me in when he updates my GP. in the U.K. you are entitled to know your results.
Your surgeon probably knows this but just in case: You should be taking T3 only (e.g. Cytomel) immediately after a thyroidectomy. Then, after about 3 months or maybe more, only then should you start on Levo - and be checked every 6 weeks at least to get your dose optimal. The chances of hitting your right dose (of Levo) first time are slim. And speaking of "slim", you are probably low on T3 which is causing the weight gain. Get your results ASAP and publish them here.
I should add that this is the protocol followed by the hospital I am insured with - and they are pretty good.
MY SURGRON IS THE BEST IN THIS FIELD OF SURGERY AND HAS SAID I AM COMPLETELY CLEAR OF ANY CANCER AND MY BLOOD HAS COME BACK FINE. SO ON HIS ADVICE HE WILL CONTACT MY GP AND ASK HIM TO PRESCRIBE THYROXIN AND I WILL BE CHECKED UP ON. I WILL SEE MY SURGEON IN 6 MONTHS TIME. TERRI XX
OK, understood, I agree 100% with your surgeon that you definitely need thyroid meds especially after a thyroidectomy. We will all be here over the next 6 months.
