Hi ,I am still unwell after nearly 20 years of hashimotos, having suddenly become worse 5 years ago.tried t3, NDTback on thyroxine. It seems all my hashimotos symptoms increased 10 fold.Question is when I increase my Thyroxine helps for about 2 says then becomes worse at about 12 days.I am taking 125 one day then 112.5 the next when I raise to 125 ,pain and short of breath and hot face.Same happens if I reduce to 112.5 a day and face becomes like a furnace!Any ideas.last TSHwas 0.26 .

How are your levels of B12 - Folate - Ferritin - vitD ? Are you on any other medication that could be conflicting with the thyroxine ?

Changes over a short period of time - do not suit the body - so am wondering how long you stuck with each change ....

Do you have any results to share - with ranges ?

Then this may be part of the problem. You need to stick on same dose for the body to get used to a set dose

Have you tried T3 with Levo, or T3 with NDT? Are you approaching the menopause by any chance?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies.

At least 6, but ideally 8 weeks, (or even longer) at CONSTANT dose

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get antibodies tested, if not been done

Do you have Hashimoto's? If so then are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Plus very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting.

If on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, and if on T3 don't take in 12 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
