Feeling worse when taking iron pills everyday

I started taking iron pills since two months ago due to iron deficiency anemia but they make me feel awful sometimes...when I take them for two or three days in a row I get headaches and my eyes get puffy then I have to stop taking them for one or two days...

Any ideas why it happens?

How much iron are you taking? what kind? ie fumarate, sulphate, gluconate?

If you have candida, too much iron in one go can feed the candida and this is one explanation.

You could also be allergic to a particular kind of iron salt/supplements.

Iron bisglycinate is gentle and is highly absorbed. It is only needed in very small amounts.

I got headaches too from iron tablets. Too much iron at once for your body. How much are you taking? I took fumarate and could take only one. I gave up on it after a while. Felt like it all ended up in the toilet anyway while shredding my guts in the process. Maybe try something more gentle like floradix or spatone - they are low dose but better than nothing.

I'm taking ferrous fumarate 350 mg daily...I have never had such a problem with iron supplements before...

I was on lower dose of iron last month but there's no difference...I can't take any of them everyday...

Consider switching to iron bisglycinate. Thorne Research 25 mg/day or Optiferin C by Pure Encapsulations 28 mg/day or Iron C by Pure Encapsulations 15 mg x 2 day. Either one will help gently increase your ferritin, is less than what you are taking, highly absorbed and won't leave any residual for the candida to feed on. With ferrous fumarate you take high amount to absorb only 10% of it.
