Hypothyroid and headaches with alcohol

hello,

For about the last year I have suffered badly with headaches after a few drinks.

Just 2 vodka tonics will do it every time.

I take Levo 62.5mcg and Cytomel 6.25mcg.

Is it my thyroid, my meds. or liver playing me up?

Used to love a few drinks, and cope really well, but not now. :0(

Any help/information gratefully received. TY x

I don't know the actual cause but you'll find it isn't uncommon amongst hypo patients. I used to drink slightly more than I do now, but I've reached the point where more than two shandies leaves me with a hangover lasting until mid afternoon the next day, and sometimes just a half is all it takes.

You could be reacting to the tonic because it's loaded with sugar. Doesn't taste sweet because quinine is quite bitter. With that strong a reaction, you might try doing liver support.

Never thought about the sugar level, as I don't have a lot of sugar in my diet normally. Might be worth a look! Maybe milk thistle? Thanks G2G2 x

To be honest I’m a total p*** artist but in all honesty I don’t suffer from crippling hangovers that often and headaches for me is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence. Yeah feel a bit rough the day after but don’t feel like I have been bitten by a black mamba like others do. That said I only drink good quality bottled lager and straight bourbon with no mixer .. G2G2 has a good point regarding the sugar ... Maybe try an alternative, fruit juice or just be cool and drink it straight on ice.

The vodka was just an example of how little it takes to make me feel bad. It is the same with wine, or Guinness (which I love) or cider, or...... any alcohol really.

I used to be able to hold quite a lot of drink - but now the aftermath is really putting me off having any! Gutted! :0(

I’m sorry ... I can’t help you!! On the waggon for you!!! Haha!! ... Aww Lydia .. Maybe look into the sugar thing ... Maybe try a night on a decent Pilsner lager (You know the difference between Pilsner and other beers don’t you?) like Holstein Pils or something .. And drink your spirits neat with ice .. See how that goes.

Unfortunately, lager is one of the few drinks I don't like! ha!
