Alcohol and Levothyroxine

Prob should have asked this question BEFORE i went on my night out....but i've just taken by Levo tablet, not had any food for a number of hours BUT had few glasses of red wine (very good at the time). Does this adversely affect the benefits of the tablet though?

Hi Of course, it is better not to have alcohol but not something you need to worry about. The odd bit should not do any harm and you would soon know in the short time from how you feel. Some drugs and conditions do completely prohibit taking any alcohol but I have never heard that it effects thyroid disease and I have been on treatment many, many years.

It is interesting to note that many people with a thyroid condition find that alcohol does not agree with them and have completely given up.

I wouldnt worry, I have washed down levo with wine a few times.

I'm sure once or twice its ok!

Hi all I'm new to this site and I have to say that in the 20 or so years I have had an underactive Thyroid, I have only recently found out that its best to take your Levo in the morning on an empty stomach!!! So having a glass or two of something nice shouldn't be too much of a prob!!!

I take mine around 3:00am.

I enjoy a drink but I have found it is much 'stronger' than it used to be! Lol

Nah wouldn't worry I drink wine at weekends and lager when we go out and nevet bothered me
