When hypothyroid, what is an ideal level of B12 to aim for (ref. range: 190-800). I've been hunting through old posts, but can't find the number I need. Thanks!

Have you got blood test results? I've recorded the following from the forum... There are two different B12 tests reported: one is Serum B12 , which would be your quoted range where you should aim for 'at least 450' , better up to 550; the other is Active B12 where for eg Medichecks give a range 25.10. To 165 pmoI/L . You might be interested in reading 'Could it be B12?' By Sally M. Pacholok. B12 can be improved with a supplement under the tongue , a sublingual methylcobalamin, thus bipassing potential Hashimoto's gut malabsorption ( mine then went too high!), but if deficient you would respond better to b12 injections. A good all round B complex is recommended. There is a Pernicious Anemia Society sister site on healthunlocked that might help further.
Thanks for the info. I have a serum B12 result of 573. I was just wondering if that is high enough.
