I know that B12 is now thought best to be around 1,000.

As we age the homocysteine levels can rise which results in brain shrinkage and eventually dementia. Taking B12 supplements can help reduce homocysteine levels and prevent brain damage.

You have to take Folate with B12 to lower homocysteine. B12 should never be taken without folate. A high B12 without taking high Vit B12 could be a sign of many health issues or disease process. It's not always excreted in excess in some people.

Great thanks for the reply. So having an above average is a good thing. Depending what you class as average seen afew diff scales now

Are you supplementing ? - maybe a B complex which could inflate your test result ....

Hi marz thanks good point just checked the multi vits i take and they have b12 in them. Didnt think of that. I will stop taking them

You do not need to stop taking a B Complex as you cannot overdose on B12 - any excess is excreted 😊

Excess B12 is not always excreted as it can be a sign of methylblocking or other health issues if one isn't supplementing. Lack of enough T4 can also cause this.

Id like to add that ive been on a ketogenic diet for a year and was wondering if this was a cause as it wasn't flagged up on my test a year ago
